L’Euguélionne is hiring

Two job openings: Bookseller-manager and administrative manager

L’Euguélionne, queer and feminist bookstore is a not-for-profit solidarity cooperative whose main objective is to offer a diverse selection of feminist and queer books. The coop is managed collectively and democratically in a non-hierarchical structure.

 

POSITION 1 : ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER

  • Be an essential contact person for the functioning of the organization (coworkers, accounting audit, suppliers, etc.);
  • Participate in accounting management (bookkeeping, process of improving practices, etc.).
  • Take charge of the cooperative’s administrative components (payroll, legal obligations, correspondence, etc.).
  • Assist with fund-raising and reporting
  • Sitting on the Finance Committee
  • Participate in the general management of the cooperative, notably through weekly meetings and committee meetings.

 

POSITION 2: BOOKSELLER-CO-MANAGER

  • Participate in the management of the cooperative, notably through weekly meetings and committee meetings.
  • Taking charge of a management mandate for the organization
  • Service to the public (sales, advice, special orders, etc.)
  • Other floor-related tasks (preparation of showcases and special presentations, general maintenance of the space, cleaning, etc.)  
  • Other mandates to be determined according to skills and needs, in collaboration with the team

Required skills and qualities 

Recommended skills and qualities

  • Experience in a bookstore, library or any other literary environment
  • Experience working with feminist/lgbtq+ groups (institutional or affinity) or on feminist/lgbtq+ projects
  • Experience working in a collective or self-managed work
  • Proficiency in French and English (verbal and written). The main working language is French.
  • Knowledge of English-language literature (an asset)
  • Graphic design skills (an asset)
  • Eligibility for a wage subsidy from Emploi-Québec or other funding agency (an asset) 

Working conditions

  • minimum 25 hours/week 
  • Base salary: $16.25/hour
  • 3 weeks paid vacation
  • For the position of Administration Manager: flexible schedule
  • For the co-managing bookseller position: alternating day/evening/weekend work (schedules are set in collaboration with the rest of the work team)
