Are you an artist, zinester, or author interested in consigning your work at our bookstore?
Our Criteria
-
Works must explicitly align with our mission (queer, anti-racist, anti-colonial, feminist).
-
The artist must not engage in cultural appropriation or use the oppression of others for personal gain.
-
We accept self-published works, zines, printed materials, greeting cards, stickers, and buttons.
-
WE DO NOT ACCEPT candles, clothing, board games, magnets, etc.
-
WE DO NOT ACCEPT, for ethical reasons, books printed on demand and exclusively sold through, printed or published by Amazon.
Our Terms
-
Profit margin: We take 35% of the sale price. For example, if you wish to earn $6.50 per copy sold, we will sell your work for $10 in-store. Similarly, if you want your work to retail at $6.50, your payout will be $4.23 (6.50 × 65%).
Why 35%? We aim to leave as much profit as possible to the artist, but we also need to cover expenses such as rent, insurance, softwares, staff salaries, and the time invested in handling your work (cataloging, merchandising, online sales, sales reports, payments, artist communications), all of which require resources. -
Contract duration: Consignment contracts last six months. We review contracts twice a year, in winter and summer. At that time, we pay for sold copies and decide whether to restock, keep the remaining inventory, or return unsold items.
-
Delivery: The artist is responsible for delivering their stock to the bookstore, at their own expense. Likewise, the artist must collect any unsold items after the sales report is issued, also at their expense. Any unclaimed stock after 3 months will be donated to a non-profit organization aligned with our mission.
-
Merchandising: Consignees do not have control over the placement of their work in the store. Our booksellers determine the most suitable placement for each item, depending on its theme, format, etc. If you wish, your work can also be sold through our online store.
